Fall Fishing Report
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend, the year is flying by and the Fall Fishing season in Michigan has begun! Im looking forward to seeing everyone this season and cannot wait to get into some fish. The King Salmon are beginning to trickle in along with a few Coho, Browns and Skamania. We have been on the Big Manistee and Pere Marquette rivers the last 10 days seeing whats around. 3 days of rain in the forecast should get another push of fish to move in and give us alittle more flow as most west and northwest rivers are pretty low. Regardless, fish will continue to trickle in for the next 6 weeks. The Kings seem to running big this year with alot of 20-30lbs fish, and theyve been hard to keep hooked. The water temps are still in the upper 60s and hitting 70 during the day but these cool nights and damp mornings should start getting those temps to drop and slow the fish down. Eggs, Beads, and Crankbaits have been putting fish in the boat, not alot of commitment on cranks but lots of chases. Imexpecting good fishing right into October Steelhead fishing, and for how many small Steelhead were caught last fall, this fall should be alot better.
I was able to get Reece and Rowan into their first King Salmon over the weekend. Rowan bobbed one up and Reece got a 28 pounder at last light throwing a glow thunderstick, all on his own! Other than launching the boat at 5:30am only to be the 20th boat trailer at the launch, they had fun. Labor Day weekend is always super busy on the water..
I appreciate everyone coming out to fish with me this Fall, Im looking forward to having fun, catching fish and making memories. Its all about the experience! I still have a few evenings for September Kings, 3 October Steelhead dates, and a few November Steelhead dates. Give me a call, text, or email if you have any questions about upcoming trips or inquiring for future trips. Lots of options as far as rivers. Tight Lines and Stay Safe!
